At Turas Nua, we believe in the power of employment to transform lives. Through our Employability service, we support individuals with disabilities and health conditions in securing meaningful employment while helping businesses tap into a talented and dedicated workforce. In this article, we explore the benefits for both employers and employees.

Access to a Skilled and Motivated Workforce

One of the biggest misconceptions about hiring people with disabilities or health conditions is that they may not have the skills or capabilities needed for the role. In reality, our programme connects employers with highly skilled, experienced, and motivated candidates who are eager to contribute. Many of our participants bring unique talents, strong problem-solving skills, and resilience to the workplace – qualities that drive innovation and productivity in any organisation.

Boost Workplace Diversity and Inclusion

A diverse workforce leads to a stronger, more dynamic workplace. By hiring through our Employability Programme, businesses actively promote inclusion, equity, and social responsibility. This not only helps create a welcoming environment but also fosters creativity and collaboration by incorporating different perspectives and experiences. Studies show that diverse workplaces experience higher employee engagement, improved decision-making, and increased productivity. Social recruitment plays a key role in helping businesses create an inclusive workforce that benefits both employees and employers.

Increase Employee Retention and Loyalty

Employers who hire individuals from similar Employability programmes often report higher retention rates and stronger employee loyalty. When businesses invest in inclusive hiring practices, employees feel valued and supported, leading to greater job satisfaction and long-term commitment. Additionally, companies that embrace social recruitment and inclusive hiring tend to see a positive impact on workplace morale and team cohesion.

Meet Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ESG Goals

Many businesses today prioritise Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. Employing people with disabilities and health conditions aligns with these goals by fostering social impact, reducing unemployment, and demonstrating a genuine commitment to equality. By partnering with Turas Nua, employers can enhance their brand reputation and show their commitment to building a fair and inclusive society. Social recruitment is a powerful strategy for businesses looking to meet their CSR goals while making a tangible difference in their communities.

Benefit from Ongoing Support and Resources

At Turas Nua, we provide ongoing support to both employers and employees to ensure a smooth transition and long-term success. Our dedicated Employer Services Team offers tailored assistance, workplace accommodations guidance, and practical solutions to make hiring seamless. We work closely with businesses to understand their needs and match them with the right candidates.

Join the Social Recruitment Movement for an Inclusive Workforce

By employing individuals from Employability, you are not just filling a vacancy – you are making a lasting impact on someone’s life while strengthening your business. Inclusive hiring is not just the right thing to do; it’s a strategic decision that benefits everyone involved.

Just 32% of people with disabilities in Ireland are employed. Learn how Turas Nua supports employers to build inclusive workplaces and close the gap. October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to reflect on progress, but also on the challenges that remain. In Ireland, the disability employment gap is the widest in Europe. The European Disability Forum (2023 ) indicates that only 32% of people with disabilities are in work, compared to the EU average of 51%. People with disabilities are more than twice as likely to be unemployed as non-disabled peers. Inclusion is a social priority, but it’s also a national challenge.
