Turas Nua on the Road During Work and Skills Week 2026

Work and Skills Week 2026 was a busy and rewarding week for the Turas Nua team, as staff travelled across the country to connect with employers, community organisations and jobseekers as part of the Department of Social Protection’s national initiative.

Every year, the dedicated week highlights employment opportunities, support skills development, and creates meaningful connections between employers and people looking for their next step in work. For Turas Nua, it is also an opportunity to engage directly with communities and continue our work as an Intreo Partner, suppor ting people on their journey towards employment.

Connecting with Communities Across Ireland

Throughout the week, Turas Nua staff attended a range of events nationwide, including recruitment fairs, employer engagement sessions, and inclusion-focused discussions.

These events provided valuable opportunities for jobseekers to explore available roles, learn about training opportunities, and meet organisations that can support them on their employment journey. They also gave employers the chance to connect with local talent and learn more about the supports available through programmes delivered by the Department of Social Protection and partners like Turas Nua.

Each event provided a different perspective on employment and skills development, from sector-specific recruitment events to discussions around diversity, inclusion and opportunities for people who may face additional barriers to employment.

Supporting Inclusive Pathways to Employment

The week also included strong employer engagement across sectors. At the Work and Skills Hospitality Recruitment Event in Killarney, organised by the Department of Social Protection, there was a significant presence of hoteliers and support organisations, creating valuable networking and recruitment opportunities for both employers and jobseekers.

The Importance of Being Present in Communities

For Turas Nua, being present at events like these is a vital part of supporting people into employment.

Many of the jobseekers attending these events are meeting the Turas Nua team for the first time. Others are already engaging with our services and welcome the opportunity to speak with staff face-to-face about the supports available to them.

By showing up in communities across the country, Turas Nua can build stronger relationships with local employers, strengthen partnerships with community organisations, and ensure jobseekers know that support is available as they take their next step.

A Collaborative Effort

Work and Skills Week 2026 was made possible through the collaboration of many partners, including the Department of Social Protection, employers, community groups and event organisers across Ireland.

Turas Nua would like to thank everyone involved in organising and participating in the week’s events, as well as our own staff who spent the week travelling, engaging and representing the organisation in communities nationwide.
